Republic
of Peru
| Arequipa is the second city of Perú, it is located at 1200 Km. to the south of the city of Lima (2400 Mts of altitude), it is called the white city by the particularity that many of the constructions, were manufactured in "sillar" (material of volcanic origin) and it is of a white outlook. This city is surrounded by a beautiful grassland, with some natural landscapes of impressive beauty, having as part of it, the Misti volcano (5800 Mts.). The city is |

| extremely beautiful, blending
it's architectures between colonial
and modern, being the Santa Catalina
Convent a place of obligatory visit, because of its beauty and mysticism.
The good cooking, is in Perú,
a tradition and a cultural attribute
of great importance and Arequipa is
one of the most important gastronomical centers
of the country.
The Colca Cannon, the deepest on the planet, with more than 1000 mts. of depth, is a place of imposing beauty and cradle of Condors, where we can appreciate these birds, with bodies of up to three meters, fly and teach us a good lesson (there is a zone where people have flown but it is not recommend because of insufficient information). |
| To fly in Arequipa
takes a little work, it is
for those sportsmen that search for a challenge
with great personal satisfactions, this is a test
of real paratrekking, in which the technical
difficulty is minimum, but
it requires a good physical state.
Being the takeoff at more than 5800 masl. of height, arriving to it is a real physical test |

| and although the takeoff is pretty good it requires of a good run to accomplish the inflating of the paraglider, being able to arrive in approximately an hour of flight to the city, in which there are perfect and obstacle free landings. |
| There are hotels in the area with prices
from US$ 5 to $150, the City Tours cost around
US$ 20. The trip in bus from Lima takes
nearly twelve hours (from Nazca 7) and you are able to
do a complete visit in 7 days.
The visit to the Colca (2 - 3 days) US$ 60 - 100 (Included Transport, hotel and food) it is better to allow the body to acclimate before going up. In Arequipa you are able to rent high mountain equipment. |
