Republic
of Peru
| Hillsides that look to the sea located at
185 Km. to the south of the city of Lima, surrounded by exotic landscapes,
broad beaches, green swamps and locations
of wild nature.
This is the area where the rhythm of the cajones (drums made out of a wooden box) and the mixture of ethnic backgrounds, making their presence felt in the folklore as in the Peruvian People, having been this area predominately black, it evokes the old times when these valleys, in need of workers, brought african slaves therefore enriching our culture. The very spicy meals abound, generally prepared by afro-peruvian hands, with so many antique recipes as old as the the arrival of the black people to our shores, who enriched and defined the national culinary art, a motive of pride for all the Peruvians. The folklore is made present in the street, the children in towns like "El Carmen" are found toe tapping in the Plaza de Armas ( main square ) so agile and smiling as you could expect. |
| The hillsides go from 60 to 200 mts. of height, these initiate in the valley of Chincha going on until the valley of Cañete, the distance between them is of aprox. 35 Km, the flight lasting from departure to landing (70 Km.) nearly 4 hrs, the speed record in this distance is of 2:20' hrs (by Franz Schilter). The flight is dynamic type with very small thermal presence which do not swirl but, actually, ''dolphin round''. There are two difficult spots but with a little bit of precision, wind and ability you are able to skip them. |

| The flight continually forces
the pilot to fly very near of the hillside
and being the first part of it, specially turbulent,
you will need absolute concentration,
to avoid "forced landings".
This hillside was totally flown by first time, in Dic. 97 by Arturito Wong (14 years) and a small group of experienced pilots. |
| We recommend the 'El Valle'
Inn in Chincha, because his is the official see of
the national championships, it has three stars and
they charge US$ 10 by pilot, having
one of the best restaurants on the South, with
important discounts to the pilots.
The wind conditions vary a lot in this area, independently of the time of year, by it we recommend to consult with the pilots of Lima, concerning the winds to decide a stay in the area. The Voyage in bus from Lima takes near two hours and you are able to do a complete visit in two days. |
