Paracas  is  a natural dessert  reserve,  located in the Peruvian coast   at  230  Km.  south  of   the city of  Lima,  is  the  area where  most  marine  wild life is found in  the pacific coast of the continent,  counting  with  very   interesting   tourist    and cultural locations, their antique settlers "The Paracas Culture" predecessors  of the Incas, were  great experts  in  the  matter of  fabrics   and cranial surgery.
Now a  days we  preserve many highly interesting remainders of   this culture,  existing  a site museum in   where  fabrics of over  3000  years  are  exposed   and  the   famous   " Funeral fardos " that contain the intact mummies, and   the marvelous fabrics that wrap them.
The natural life gets together  in  an  impressive marine  fauna which  you are  able  to be  visit   and  experiment  it  from up close by visiting the Ballestas Islands, ecological sanctuary in  which the sea lions, and the penguins are the attention  center of   the  visitors.

 




 

Flight

The  flight  is  of an absolutely  dynamic  type,  beginning  the flights  at   9  AM.  with  winds  of  15  Kph. and  as  the   day advances,   it   will   progressively increase until the afternoon we have   winds  that will go faster  than  50   Kph. This  zone of  flight  has  an  access and a takeoff of unequal kind   being the  hillside of 15 mts. of height  to 50  Mts.; flying above  the marine reefs, among  them  one  of  the  most   beautiful   that exists  where there is  a   rocky  formation  in the shape  of  a  cavern  called  the   "Cathedral".  The  winds  are   absolutely '''laminar'''  and turbulence  free,  allowing  from  the  recently initiated   pilot  up  to  the  more   advanced  pilots   to  enjoy
themselves   and    search   for    places   in   that   the  hillside maneuvers are a delight and offers good margins of safety. Now  in   the afternoon  when  the  winds  have increased, the experienced   Paragliding  pilot   can  continue   flying,   these are   up  to  1  mt.  close   to  he   ground  flights,  above    the shore   by    using   the  gradient   effect    that    this    hillside generates while the Hanggliders will be enjoying  the   virtues

 



 
 

of their own speed,  having very secure landings  even though the   winds   are  strong  (only   for   experts).   The  nocturnal flights  in  full  moon  nights  are an unforgettable  experience being  able  to  do  them   here  or  in a  small plateau  located at 1.5 km. of these, having   about  240 mts. of  gradient   and 4x4   access.

 



Travel Tips

 There are hotels  in the  area with a price range  from US$ 12 to  $50,  the islands Tours   and  the  reserve take a day,  with an approximate cost of   US$ 20.
The Voyage in  bus  from Lima  lasts  nearly  three hours  and you are able to  do a complete visit in two or three days.
